The first day I met Christine was the day my twins were born at 24 weeks. She spent the next 5 ½ months by our sides and she was the primary nurse for my son F. She reminded us daily that slow and steady wins the race through our stay. He has had 7 surgeries and we were so lucky that she was on that day to be with him. If the surgery was scheduled and not emergent, she would change days with whomever she needed to be there with use. We could not have asked for a better person to be with F. At 32 weeks' gestation, F was having a routine eye exam at the bedside, when they found a tumor and realized it was retinoblastoma. I had been stuck in traffic and was not at the hospital yet, she Christine called to see if I was on my way, because I am usually there for exams and I like to speak with the Doctor. Christine made sure that when I got there that the doctor was paged as well as the Dana Farber team. She went above and beyond for us like this all the time. Christine made sure to be there during his port placement and the start of his chemo treatments. Christine sat with me and my baby while the treatment was administered to make sure we were surrounded with love and support. Christine not only helped my son survive with all her love and care, but she also helped me survive such a horrific time. Brigham and Women's could not ask for a better woman to be working for them and we could not ask for a better nurse. They are now almost 2 and F is still going through treatment and getting check-ins from Christine and all the NICU at BWH. Christine is a true DAISY Nurse.
