Recently, we had a very busy day in the Emergency Room. I was coming back from break when a critical child came in. Chris, being the Float and covering for me for lunch, took the lead. Upon coming back, I quickly jumped in to help him any way I could. Chris was not only keeping the child calm but the family and me as well. When the child's father arrived in the ER the whole room was overcome with emotion, so much so I had to leave, unable to keep it together in front of everyone. But Chris stood strong, not allowing the severity of the situation to shake him until the child was loaded into the helicopter.
Chris is a nurse whom I can only aspire to be like in my career as an emergency nurse. He is a leader, a doer and is compassionate. Chris is always willing to lend a hand in a bad situation. The fact that he was willing to stay and help because I was overwhelmed means the world to me as a co-worker and friend. I know Chris's poise in this situation will stay with that family.
