On August 27, 2024, tragedy struck our family. Our 28-year-old nephew was working on a pipeline, welding like he had so many times before. He was electrocuted and was found unresponsive. They worked on him at the job site, before arriving by ambulance to MRMC where care was continued. He could not be revived. We are all heartbroken.

Christy was working that day. The love and care that we received during that time was outstanding. She came in and talked to us. In such a difficult and sad time, we still felt the genuineness of a knowledgeable and compassionate nurse. The next day the patient's wife became emotional and wanted to talk to that nurse! Our family talked to a nurse in the ED who reached out to Christy and within 30 minutes Christy contacted our family. The patient's wife had so many questions that she needed answers to. His wife asked Christy to go over his care in the ED. Christy answered every question with knowledgeable and honest answers. The caring and genuine attentiveness was so transparent.

There were many tears shed but there were also a couple of times the patient's wife smiled. His wife even had a panic attack while crying and talking to this nurse and Christy calmed her down and talked her right through it. Christy explained everything in a way that the family could relate to it. The patient's wife said it helped her to talk to this nurse and it made her feel better that her husband's nurse was such a caring nurse. Christy is the best! She is a perfect example of a nurse who goes beyond the normal call of duty. Her willingness to speak with a grieving family gave us comfort we will never forget. It made a big difference. We just want everyone to know what an EXTRAORDINARY nurse Christy is.
