Cindy was our day nurse over the weekend and this was a trying time for us because our relatively healthy baby boy was bored out of his mind in his hospital room. Cindy made sure that we received ground privileges as soon as possible and also access to the playroom in an attempt to keep M. happy. If we were out for a walk, she made sure to call us if the doctor stopped by or if she needed us back upstairs. I felt comfortable taking M. for a walk or to the playroom because I knew she would alert us immediately if a doctor was waiting to see us.
Cindy acted as an advocate for us with M.'s doctors (particularly with respect to his pain meds) and the other hospital staff. She demonstrated the utmost competence. I never once questioned her professional capabilities to care for my son. Had he been an older child (and once I felt comfortable leaving him alone for a few hours), I would have had no problem leaving him in Cindy's care.
As you can imagine, having your baby admitted to the hospital and scheduled for two surgical procedures in a matter of days is a scary thing. Cindy went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and reassured that he was in the best possible hands. We had a very positive experience overall at Baptist, but looking back over the course of our week-long stay, the memories that stay with me the most are the care given to us by Cindy. She is a wonderful asset to your Pediatric Unit and we are so happy to have met her.
