I would like to thank my daughter's nurse and share my story of why Cindy is so special:
I have been trying for days to think about how to express to you how much you did for my daughter and me. You treated my daughter with so much compassion and dignity. You didn't see her as just another patient in a bed with many challenges. You saw her as the beautiful girl and soul she was.
When my daughter was transferred to the 3rd floor from CCU and knowing what was ahead of us when I saw your face it brought me strength. You were right there with us during those last difficult days. Even staying past the end of your shift. You always explained things making sure I knew what to expect but never pushed. You were just always present for us! There are not many people in the world like you and I want you to know how special you are, and I will never forget everything you did for us. You were and always will be a blessing to my daughter and me. Thank you.

Cindy Knoth is a shining example of what the DAISY Award nurse, to me, is. She is not only a kind and compassionate soul to her patients and families, but also to her staff that she leads, ancillary departments that she works with, and doctors she interacts with. Cindy advocates for her patients, as well as her departments as a whole.
Ms. Cindy will not only take care of a homeless patient's dog when she was hospitalized for an extended period of time, bathing her, taking her home over the weekends, and finding a wonderful home for her when the patient felt the need to give her dog a better life than that of living on the streets, to buying undergarments, and taking home their clothes home to wash for another patient that had housing and placement issues. Cindy is always trying to provide complete information, guidance, and comfort to patient families in the most sensitive of circumstances. These are only a few examples of why Cindy is special to her patients and staff. Cindy is an extraordinary nurse who makes a difference in the lives of her patients and families.
