CJ Kirk is a nurse in the NICU. She was caring for a little guy whose condition was grave. The family had to, and did, make a decision to take the child off of life support. After this decision had been made, CJ attended the baptism and stayed with the family as the infant was taken off life support and as he died. It was obvious her heart broke right along with the hearts of the infant’s family. After the child had passed away, she took his precious little body and bathed him with the same care and compassion she had given to him while he was still alive. At one point, she moved him very gingerly because she said he didn’t look comfortable. It was obvious the boy had become a part of her heart. She later followed up with the family through email and also sent them things she found in his bed after the family had gone. Along with these affects from his time spent at LeBonheur, she sent a token of her esteem for their son.
