Claire Cytlak is our facility's only full-time pre-admission testing nurse. She calls every patient and reviews their medical information, schedules and performs pre-op testing, facilitates surgical clearance, and now schedules COVID testing. She is a tremendously hard worker and dedicated to her fellow employees. She is very caring and compassionate. Her compassion recently helped save a patient in a dire medical circumstance. She was on a pre-admission call with a patient whose demeanor suddenly started changing. He seemed to be quite confused and his speech seemed to slur. She lost connection with him on the phone. She called him back and he was confused and belligerent. She lost the call again and was further unable to reach him. Feeling uneasy about his actions and behaviors, she called the police to do a welfare check. When they arrived, his condition was the same, and his blood sugar was discovered to be 40. He was all alone. He was also subsequently hospitalized for pancreatitis. Following her instincts possibly helped save his life. We are very fortunate to work alongside Claire!
