Claire immediately connected with me by asking how I was feeling physically and emotionally.
I am happy to nominate Claire for the DAISY Award for her outstanding support of me and my husband throughout my labor and delivery of our first child. After being induced, I met Claire when her shift started the next day. From the moment she introduced herself, she went above and beyond to provide compassionate patient-centered care.
Claire immediately connected with me by asking how I was feeling physically and emotionally. When I shared my extreme fear, she reassured me in a way that felt personal and genuine. Her calming presence and thoughtful guidance made me feel less like a patient and more like family. As my labor progressed, she was attentive, keeping both me and my husband well-informed and calm through every step. While there were several other patients in the L&D unit that night, we felt like we were the only ones because of Claire's care. Her demeanor was so key in my labor; I was praying she would be there through the delivery of our son. Claire delivered – figuratively and literally. She was kind enough to stay past her shift, hold my hand, and support me and my husband as first-time parents.
Our son was born at 12:01 am, and my husband and I still talk about the exceptional care we received from Claire months later. She truly empowered us through an intense and challenging experience, leaving an unforgettable impact on our journey into parenthood.
