I simply cannot express or emphasize how important Clayton is to this hospital and its reputation.
My wife came into the ED around 2100 following a seizure. We had several near misses during her time in the ED and stay in PCU and ICU. The wrong meds were almost given a couple of times. Nobody had any clue what was going on with her and I was rapidly losing confidence in her quality of care. Then she got Clayton as her nurse. Clayton instantly took a vested interest in her care and worked tirelessly to rehabilitate her and get her quality of life improved. She has had several nurses go far but not of them focused on her long-term like Clayton. He worked feverishly with doctors to strategize her care plan. He fought extremely hard for her to be removed from the ventilator. He clearly understood the importance and necessity. He communicated with her in a way no one else could other than me. He figured out every area she had an itch and would scratch it for her.
I have thanked Clayton many times. He does not openly accept that he has done anything special. HE HAS! He gave us hope and comfort. I know without a doubt he is the reason for her improvement. My wife has had a challenging life when it comes to her health. She fights when others fight for her. She lives in constant pain and fear and Clayton instantly recognized that. He gave us comfort. This is the best medicine for a patient. I am an administrator in Public Safety and government. I recognize the value in quality care and employees. I recognize what it takes to make an organization and mission successful. Clayton is one of those people who is extremely humble, takes pride in his work, and doesn't stop advocating. He is what I look for in a stellar and exemplary employee. Clayton is truly a lifesaver and should be commended for his hard work and selflessness.
