In the spring of 2023, I was hospitalized for a number of months at CarolinaEast with COVID and pneumonia. Reflecting back on my hospital stay, there is one common thread that was woven into my recovery, hour by hour, day by day, and that was the care of the 4100 team. Their nursing care was competent, compassionate and precise. Calm under pressure and difficult times, managing family comfort, and truly caring about me as a patient ensuring that they were always available for assistance. There were a number of staff members that really stood out include, but not limited to, Sarah, Allison, Janna, Sam, Andrea, Tracy, Lauren, Kim, Tiffany, Rachel, Annie, Michelle, and so many more. Their leadership, including Mary, Brittany, Carissa, and Becky, were present and supportive of the staff when advocating for my care and medical management. The 4100 hallway staff are deserving of the DAISY Team Award because they were a beacon of light during a very dark time. The team went above and beyond to ensure that needs were met with a servant’s heart. The unit always demonstrated teamwork and extraordinary care, which is what the DAISY Award stands for. They truly saved my life.
