Colleen continued to provide my mom and my family the most compassionate care we have ever experienced.
My mom had a stroke and was admitted to the ICU after surgery. At this point all our family knew was that she had a stroke, they removed the blockage and she was stable. The first person we encountered was Colleen. Even before we knew she was my mom’s nurse, she was so kind and calming as she had us wait in a family room while my mom got settled in her room. As soon as mom was settled, she came to get us and sat down, and talked us through what happened and what to expect when we got to the room. For the next two days, she continued to provide my mom and my family the most compassionate care we have ever experienced. Every time Colleen came into the room, she made my mom feel like she was the only patient she had (even though the floor was full) and never left the room without making sure my mom was comfortable and even rearranged her pillows because she didn’t think they looked comfortable. She took the time to answer all of our family’s questions and did everything she could to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of as well. As a nurse at this hospital, I am so proud to work here knowing that nurses like Colleen are here caring for our patients – caring for my mom. To say she is amazing is an understatement! The care she provided is unparallel to anything I’ve experienced. Hearing my mom say Colleen made her feel safe combined with Colleen’s skill and compassion allowed for some peace during this difficult time. There is no way we can ever thank her enough for everything she has done for us!!
