I have worked with Corinne Dimmick for 18 years. Corinne started at CDH as a HUC, then she was a PCT, and eventually became an RN, BSN.
Corinne is a wonderful person, wife, mother, friend, and nurse. Corinne is so genuine in her demeanor, gentle in her human touch, confident with her voice and knowledge, and trusting of our CICU team.
Today, I witnessed her care and conversation at the bedside with a patient she was discharging home. Corinne sat on the bed with the patient, reviewed line by line all the medications and their side effects. I continued to walk past the room and went to lunch. As I was coming out of the lunchroom, I heard Corinne's voice, and looked in the same patient's room, she was still sitting on the bed, reviewing the discharge to home. I have learned that discharges can be more detailed than admissions through my own experience as a nurse. Corinne was talking, and laughing with the patient and her husband as they concluded the plan of care.
Corinne also is caring for a young patient, who has a poor prognosis. She took excellent care of him, and his wife and extended family. A Gift of Hope representative was here, and the intensivist gave permission for them to talk to the wife. Corinne sat with the patient's wife and the GOH representative while having the difficult conversation. Later, the wife left to go home, and the patient had some grade school friends come and visit. They were guys in their 40's and were so intimidated to go into the ICU room with all of the machines keeping their friend alive. Corinne respected the patient, his medical situation while she gently and privately talked to the 4 men. She made them feel comfortable with what they saw and knew in their hearts about their friend. Corinne told me they were telling stories about when they were younger and how mischievous the patient was, and all the laughs they were having. They even put a Chicago Bears hat on the patient.
Corinne is truly a DAISY Nurse.
