Our daughter being admitted to the NICU was a roller coaster of emotions. Her prognosis started out minor and ended up evolving into needing a higher level of care. I was at ease knowing my daughter was going into a unit that was filled with the best team this area has to offer. Being at Driscoll, in the NICU, I observed the patience and caring hands that provided the treatment that was required for my baby to get better. Throughout our stay, a nurse named Cory Farias stood out to us. From the first day we met her she showed compassion and empathy for my daughter. Cory showed proficient knowledge of my daughter's diagnosis and helped clarify the medical terminology in order for my family and me to understand.

The thing that stood out most was that every day, Cory clocked into work with a checklist that was going to help my baby's condition. I really and truly believe that the mindset and goals she had set to accomplish for the day helped her recover quickly. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Cory for being our nurse during this difficult experience. I believe God assigned her to my daughter's journey. Throughout all the interventions she implemented, she really advocated for my daughter and was on board daily, making sure that progress was being made. As hard of an experience being in the NICU was, Cory made a highly stressful environment a welcoming and encouraging place to ask questions, and she always made sure to check in on us parents to make sure we were doing okay.

On behalf of me and my family, we would like to thank Cory for giving my baby excellent care and, most of all, LOVE. Our hearts are full with our daughter now being at home, and this wouldn't have been possible without the amazing care from the NICU team at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
