He truly values the critical thinking of everyone on the team and knows that as a collective group, we are stronger.
Cory exemplifies ethical behavior both by striving for fairness among his team, and by bridging the gap between unit staff and outside legal counsel. Cory has found a perfect balance between maintaining professionalism and allowing his team to feel at ease in his presence, which breeds a system of trust and high level of patient care. As a 26+ year veteran on Inpatient Psychiatry & Psychology, Cory has experience in almost every role on the unit. Cory openly promotes advanced mental health nursing certifications on the unit and celebrates the staff who have obtained them. Cory is accessible 24/7/365, to the point of staff telling him he should take time for himself. Even when he isn't the leadership team member on call, he is available for legal questions and liaison assistance. Not only is Cory available for leadership purposes, but he is also the first to help for a restraint or other patient safety episode. He strives to promote critical thinking with the rest of the team as well. He truly values the critical thinking of everyone on the team and knows that as a collective group, we are stronger. I've always known Cory to be a compassionate leader, but in the wake of the HSHS closure, he has surpassed the amount of compassion I've ever seen in a manager. Cory is attempting to bring mental health care to other units within the hospital as it relates to liaison coverage, recreation, art, and music therapy consultations. Cory understands that mental health care should expand beyond Inpatient Psychiatry & Psychology and strives to bring it to all that are in need.
