It's hard to find just one story to summarize the compassionate and extraordinary care that Cosette provides daily to every patient and family under her care. She so consistently goes above and beyond with such kindness and thoughtfulness. It's clear that she considers the patients' experience of care in the way she tailors procedures and communication for each patient. Whether it's playing music and singing along with a teenager during his daily Berlin dressing change, braiding the hair of the 10-year-old girl patient who looks up to her with her braids, neatly organizing the lines of toddler who has been on the unit for months on drips and wants to walk around without getting wrapped up or making sure the babies are held and cuddled on her shift. She provides excellent clinical care effortlessly and then always goes above and beyond to care for the individual in front of her in such a loving way that makes them feel seen and known and truly care for.
Cosette is also the Recruitment & Retention lead on our unit and has cared for the other nurses in incredible ways. During nurses' week, she created unforgettably special gifts each day and organized daily massages and facials for the staff on the unit. She has a generous heart, always sharing her delicious homegrown fruit or getting thoughtful and unexpected gifts for staff on the unit during special occasions. She can consistently be found with a smile, great attitude and finds every opportunity to speak words of encouragement to others.
Cosette is also consistently helping other nurses and personally asks me often if she can help me when we're at the same station. There have been so many times she's really helped me during busy assignments. She doesn't just offer to help, she anticipates needs and meets them often without others asking. She is a ray of sunshine and a gift to our unit.
