Courtney Chitwood has such a heart for her patients, and she truly lights up the room with her infectious smile and sweet personality. Our daughter gets weekly infusions in the PACU, and Courtney is one of the nurses who runs our daughter’s infusion. It’s not typical to have infusion patients in the PACU, but they have welcomed our daughter with open arms. Courtney has gone above and beyond to make our daughter and our entire family feel special. We travel a few hours weekly for our daughter to receive these infusions, but our daughter loves it when she sees Courtney and the other nurses. Courtney brings all kinds of toys and activities for our daughter and son to play with while her infusion runs for 5+ hours. She decorated the room with sweet gifts for our daughter’s 2nd birthday with a special dog theme that our daughter loves. She helped organize a time to get pictures with Santa for Christmas. She also helped organize with the other nurses in the PACU an extremely generous gift for our family during a tough time. The list goes on and on of all the amazing things Courtney has done and cared for our daughter and family. Courtney has made our daughter feel so loved and cared for, and we are forever grateful for her. Courtney is not just one of the nurses who cares for our daughter; she has become a part of our family. It’s so hard to see our daughter have to go through her diagnosis of Wolman disease, but it’s such a blessing to know she is cared for so well by Courtney and all the nurses in the PACU.
