Her expert care, attention to my condition and needs, and wonderful attitude were just what the doctor ordered.
Mid-January I came to McLaren Lapeer with severe stomach pain. What I had thought was an attack of diverticulitis turned out being a huge cancerous tumor wrapped around my kidney. My kidney and associated tumor were surgically removed.
I have never had major surgery nor have I been diagnosed with such a serious illness and was more than a little bit in distress. Before and after the surgery, I received excellent care from a well-trained and motivated staff. However, there was one nurse who stood out among your staff.
Courtney Collett, my nurse in PCU, excelled far above the rest. Courtney made me feel as if I was her only patient, though I know that I was not. I had hoped that she would come back the following day, and to my surprise, she did. After working from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, she drove home in a snowstorm and returned at 7:00 am fresh and energetic. To my delight, she was also my nurse for my third and final day after my surgery. It is not hyperbole to say that Courtney got me through my recovery. Her expert care, attention to my condition and needs, and wonderful attitude were just what the doctor ordered. I find it hard to believe that somebody could work as hard as she does and then return the next day as fresh as if she was coming back from a well-deserved vacation.
I am glad that I found this avenue to send my appreciation because Courtney deserves to be recognized for her outstanding nursing professionalism.
