The next morning, she walked in, stuck a flower in my hair, and said you're a nurse also, and it is nurse's week. We are having a Hawaiian day.
I myself am a nurse. From the moment she introduced herself, she made sure I knew that she was here for me, not to pop a pill or take a complaint about how I felt, but to hear how I felt and what she could do as my nurse to help. When I did not know I could have a nitro for my chest pain, she gave me one, and I felt like I could finally breathe. I had no idea I could have one. My chest pain had been unrelieved for 2 days, but I took a deep breath and felt the first relief I had in 2 days. I had tears in my eyes and an overwhelming sense of hope that answers were coming. I had felt crazy until that moment. No one in the ER or the nurse the night before had asked how my chest pain was. I can give you a nitro. No one said it is okay I am here for you. No one else had gone above and beyond to find answers and call the doctor. I had been told by others they would help but finding someone that did showed me she wanted to help, desired to help, this seemed like she came here just for me. The next morning, she walked in, stuck a flower in my hair, and said you're a nurse also, and it is nurse's week. We are having a Hawaiian day.

You have a star here. I used to be a staff educator for nurses. A lot of nurses could learn bedside manner from her. We loved our time with Courtney.
