Crystal was caring, answered my husband’s questions, and continued to call for his needs throughout the night.
During the hospital stay on 2 South, Crystal Jackson, RN was assigned to our room. I was present during the entire stay and at the bedside to assist in any way but with Crystal, there was no need. Crystal entered our room after getting a report from PACU, introduced herself, and reviewed the current needs of my husband. The urinary catheter had clotted off frequently in the previous area. She was attentive to the need for supplies and understood the urgency. With the need for supplies, she called the House Supervisor to help with the available stock of supplies. Due to patient needs, the nurse was in the room every 20-30 minutes all night long. When in the room, she needed to remain for 15-20minutes. Even with the busyness, she was attentive, caring and completed her tasks, and never complained. Sometimes there might be a sigh or grimace but not with Crystal. She was busy but completed all tasks herself without help from the other staff members. She was caring, answered my husband’s questions, and continued to call for his needs throughout the night. She made suggestions and changes for his discomfort and spent time with us. I was overwhelmed with her attention to detail, functioning as an advocate for my husband’s needs to the provider. I so appreciated her many kindnesses. At the end of the shift, she reviewed the plan of care with my husband and me, cleaned the room, and stocked supplies for the next shift. Sometimes when a staff member is so busy, it may take a little extra effort to keep smiling through the night, but Crystal was just fabulous and always pleasant. Crystal is deserving of this DAISY Award for her outstanding, continual attention during the night, and for her exemplary care for my husband.
