We want to express our gratitude for one of your nurses who provided outstanding care to us last weekend. He was an RN Floater nurse named Curt who was working in ER. My husband was admitted to the ER and the hospital on Friday morning, due to a stroke. Because there were no hospital rooms available during our two-day stay, we were boarded in ER. Curt was our nurse all day Saturday. He was very attentive, patient and always on top of contacting the proper doctors and other people to keep the tests and other required activities moving along. He was very helpful in keeping us informed on procedures and the next steps. He was even able to locate the physical therapist to come and do an evaluation after we thought it was too late in the day, potentially causing us to stay yet another night. His most heroic effort, for which we will be forever grateful, was convincing my husband to do his very first MRI without full sedation, thus avoiding the risks associated with anesthesia. My husband is extremely claustrophobic and so fearful of this exam, he thought full sedation was the only way he could do it. Through Curt's encouragement (and the help of Ativan). My husband was convinced to do the MRI without anesthesia. (Curt was able to accomplish this when his family couldn't!) Curt's presence also provided moral support through this procedure which was very comforting to both of us. My husband sailed through it without problems. You can let Curt know that we had to make another trip to the ER on Sunday morning that required another MRI, and my husband was able to do this with no meds, thanks to Curt! Nursing care doesn't get better than Curt, so I hope that Swedish appreciates his efforts as much as we did. Please convey our special thanks to him.
