Curtis came into our family's life on a night when we had to have an emergency procedure done on our child in ICU, at the bedside. We were up until 4 AM and Curtis made sure we had everything our family needed. He stayed calm; made sure he did everything he needed to do to keep us and our child comfortable.
I have met a lot of nurses over the years with all of the medical problems we've experienced in my life time, but Curtis is one of the most special nurses we have ever had. Every question we asked, he had the answer, and he truly showed us compassion, love, and care. He was so special in fact, we requested him. We made it known that we loved him and let him know we wanted him to be with us as much as possible. He made us feel very comfortable and at ease with peace of mind.
This young man deserves this award, not because he is a great nurse, but because he is a great person in general.

Curtis Dubke is one of the most kind and compassionate nurses that Children's Medical Center has. He is very efficient, intelligent, and always has a sense of urgency. Those are the things that I personally believe differentiate him from anyone else here. Being on the ICU level for numerous weeks, my family was always ecstatic to receive overnight care from Curtis. Not only because he gave us peace of mind, but because being in the hospital for long periods of time can wear your body down... mentally and physically.
Our child was in pain and quickly Curtis would do whatever he could possibly do to make him feel comfortable and sleep well through the night, not only for our child but for the ones staying overnight with him as well.
Curtis was not really outspoken at first, but it didn't take long for him to open up to us. Instead of the typical hi and bye, he built a relationship with us, made jokes, brought us things, whatever he could do to make sure that we were okay. Even if it was the, "You need anything?" before walking out of our room. To me, that truly meant something. He left a huge impression on my child, my family, and me.
I believe in my heart Curtis Dubke deserves this award, and he would own it proudly... and I just wanted him to know just how special of a person he really is. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts.

Curtis was our nurse several times as we have been in ICU. He was there when my son bled out twice. He was calm and got everything and everyone in place fast enough to save my son's life. He will always be special to us. Thank you for going above and beyond and saving my son's life. I am forever grateful.
