Cynthia took the time to provide comfort and support not only physically but emotionally. She listened to our fears, concerns, and many tears.
When my husband was transferred from 9S ICU it was in the middle of the night. I called the unit and talked to Cynthia. She was very kind and informative. She answered my questions. I did not get to meet her until the next night. After talking, she realized I had a complicated family history, and she took the time to listen to me and comfort my crying. She was so tender and caring with my husband while reassuring me and my kids, in regards to my husband and their father. She reviewed the stages of deterioration in my husband’s health and our stages of grief. Her tenderness and compassion were felt by us all. I don’t think a patient and their family can be in a more vulnerable situation than in Palliative Care. Making decisions and standing by them brings much anxiety and questioning our decisions. She took the time to provide comfort and support not only physically but emotionally. She listened to our fears, concerns, and many tears. She acted as if we were her only patient. She brought warm blankets and fresh coffee! What a blessing she was to us all. Cynthia is an awesome professional nurse who should be acknowledged for her excellent care and compassion. She even brought Splenda from home the next night since they did not have any on the unit! How sweet and going the distance for a patient’s family.
