Cindy has been a member of the Cardiac Rehab department since 1987 and serves as a resource and role model. Cindy sets the bar higher and challenges the team to become better people and nurses. The DAISY Award states that "nurses are inspired to do their very best by nurse leaders who role model caring behaviors". With Cindy's support for continued professional development, 100% of the Cardiac Rehab nurses maintain at least one certification. Cindy encourages staff to pursue further education and supports them by obtaining resources through prep classes and the flexibility of scheduling to accomplish their goals. Cindy is a champion of Magnet. She encourages staff involvement in hospital committees and provides time to attend and participate in meetings. She relies on the Governing council within our department to make many of the crucial decisions regarding the care of our patients and the practice of nursing in our department. This not only creates an environment of autonomy but also increases nursing satisfaction.
