Daisy was nominated for advocating on a patient's behalf so that he could continue to receive appropriate care after discharge.
At the time of discharge, the patient's doctor insisted he needed to go to a nursing home, claiming that he was incoherent and not able to understand simple commands. Both the patient's wife and Daisy knew this wasn't the case. The patient was simply hard of hearing, making it difficult for him to answer effectively.
"Daisy recognized the problem, advocated on my husband's behalf, and with the help of the physical therapists, arranged for my husband to be discharged to a rehab facility," the patient's wife wrote in a nomination letter. "I'm extremely grateful to Daisy for her concern and patience."
Thanks to Daisy, the patient is doing well, gaining strength every day, and will be returning home soon.
