In Memory of Damian Calvo:

Today we are honoring and celebrating Damian. A man who was kind, friendly, funny, easy to talk to, and dedicated to helping others.

Damian loved being a nurse. It wasn't just a job to him; it was his calling. Working as a nurse at UCSF was his dream job, and I would like to think working on 10CVT, the best floor at UCSF, was his ultimate dream job.

All of us who worked with Damian will remember his incredible positivity. He brightened the nurse's station with his reassuring smile, his calm demeanor, and his willingness to help anyone with anything.

No matter what the pulse of the floor was that shift, there was a steadiness to him. Damian could handle it. He never complained. He never got flustered. His ability to stay calm and unshaken was a testament to his inner strength and character.

Damian's genuine compassion was evident in every interaction he had. He listened deeply, showed genuine empathy, and always made time for those in need. His patients and colleagues alike felt his unique sense of humor, warmth, and kindness, knowing they had someone who truly cared.

We remember Damian as someone whose impact was profound and whose memory will live on in all the lives he touched. From his all-around excellent patient care to conversations about health and fitness to beetroot pre-workout powder, we remember him.

Damian may no longer be with us, but his legacy of kindness, strength, humor, and love for nursing will continue to inspire us and remind us of the true meaning of compassion and dedication.
