He always looked forward to getting a phone call from Dana after his blood work. He trusted her and, over the years, grew very fond of Dana.
I received a notification of a letter that a family member had written to Dana following the passing of her father who was a long time patient of Dana's in the Coumadin Clinic. This letter symbolizes and embodies what we do as nurses and who we are. It is a wonderful testament to a fine nurse who is carrying out the Ascension Mission every single day. The letter reads...
"I’m writing you in recognition of Dana Johnson. My father passed away at the end of March. He always looked forward to getting a phone call from Dana after his blood work. He trusted her and, over the years, grew very fond of Dana. I would call and check on him, and he would often say with excitement, “I talked to Dana today about my blood work!” She may not realize the lasting impact she made on my father (as he took care of my mother everyday) and often times her phone call would make his day and lift his spirits. When Daddy transitioned to hospice, Dana also helped with getting an INR machine. She was a great support for me and our family, as we provided end-of-life care. The last phone call from Dana that Daddy remembered, he smiled big and said, “Tell her I said hi.”
With deep gratitude, I couldn’t let it go unnoticed to say THANK YOU to Dana. Thank you, Dana, for being the nurse who truly cares about her patients. You have a true gift and calling with what you do every day. Thank you, for your compassionate heart and guidance shown to my father for many years. You will always be in our hearts.
God Bless"
