Daniel is being nominated for the DAISY award because amidst all the pain my 8-month-old son was going through, he comforted him. I am aware that nurses have limited time to get through their assigned patients and routines, but Daniel showed patience and compassion. Daniel would console my son when his fever would spike, and this made me feel comfort with the care my son was receiving. All nurses attending were excellent, but Daniel stood out on how he would make adjustments to accommodate my son. For example, he respected his patient's sleeping hours. Daniel would walk in and wouldn't abruptly turn on the lights. Also, he would try to check my son as gently as possible. As a mother, this means the world because my children always come first, and having a caring nurse makes a difference in an already hard stay.
