Danielle Ferrentino from 8 West is an exceptional nurse. She goes above and beyond not for just my daughter that was admitted but my whole family. When she would round, she would always check on both my daughter and me to see if we needed anything, especially after my daughter had a surgical procedure. She went out of her way to answer questions and find supplies that were recommended even when she had no clue what I was talking about and honestly, I am not sure I was describing them correctly.
Danielle even went to the unit that commonly was children with Peg tube placements and brought a nurse back from there with her to help me find the right things to help make my daughters transition to life with a PEG tube a little easier but safer, so she wouldn't pull at her tube.
Danielle answered absolutely every single one of my millions of questions and when my daughter was hurting she was quick to respond with nursing interventions to help ease her pain until the doctor called back with orders for my daughter. She has made our stay at St. Joseph's feel a little less scary knowing we had an attentive nurse that was always positive and reassuring. She took the time to get to know my daughter and me, and always anticipated our needs. Especially when it came to pain management for my daughter's recovery. We feel blessed to have had her as our nurse during our stay. This is not only coming from the perspective of a mother of a child admitted here but a mother who is also a neonatal ICU nurse. The world certainly needs more nurses like her and St. Joseph's is lucky to have her as an employee here!
