This small thing meant so much to me. It made me feel like I was welcome as a family member instead of feeling out of place.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank Danielle Leduc, the overnight nurse we had on 3 South. My husband had called me to tell me that something was very wrong with our oldest son. We live in Derry, but I told them to come here if they felt it was safe to do so (it was). I met them in the ER. A few hours later, my oldest son was taken into surgery for an emergency appendectomy.

Dani was his overnight nurse on 3 South. We were brought to the floor around midnight, and Dani immediately came in to make sure that we had everything we needed. She had already placed bedsheets and a pillow on the visitor's bed before we got into the room. This small thing meant so much to me. It made me feel like I was welcome as a family member instead of feeling out of place. Throughout the night, she continued to check on my son and anticipated all of his needs before we even knew what we needed. Before leaving, she came in one last time to make sure we were ok, told us who our nurse would be, and thanked us. She thanked us!

I know appendicitis is a common occurrence and a routine surgery, but regardless, it can still be stressful and worrisome at the moment. It turns out that no matter how old our kids get, they are still our babies even when they aren’t babies anymore! I'm so glad my son was here at "home" because I am 100% certain there is nowhere else that he could have received better care. So, from an incredibly grateful mama, thank you, Dani, for caring for both of us during an unexpected and stressful time.
