I am a new employee of Delta Health, and I have had the pleasure over the last few months to witness the caring, empathic, patient advocacy, and thoughtful nursing David has brought to the ICU. No matter what is going on with the patient, David takes the time to understand and make the patient feel safe. I can't even count how many times I have taken over care of a patient from him who has sung his praises to me about how they felt safe and cared for.

With that aside, David, in the last week, has stayed after his shift to help the staff perform care because it was in the best interest of the patient. He was caring for a diabetic patient with a complicated insulin pump who was transferred to the medical-surgical unit right at shift change. Rather than just giving report and clocking out, David stayed and educated the staff and the patient on the use of the pump and made sure everything was perfect before leaving. I have worked with a lot of nurses over the years, and I truly feel that anyone who is willing to go above and beyond at a consistent level for our patients deserves to be recognized.
