The Cardiac Critical Care Unit received a patient who was critically ill and in a severely deconditioned state. The team aggressively followed all the physician orders, and in addition used creative nursing interventions to care for some basic needs of the patient. David saw that the patient's hair was severely matted, and dead nits were visible. Over the course of two nights, David used olive oil to meticulously and gently work through, cleaning and detangling the patient's hair. This is just one example of how David goes beyond expectations when caring for the deepest needs of his patients.
