I admire Dax because somehow he keeps his sense of humor and professionalism throughout, making people around him laugh, veterans, co-workers, whomever.
Dax is a generous, excellent, and professional nurse. He goes above and beyond every day. He almost always works with difficult groups and he never loses his temper, and always keeps his composure whether it comes to a difficult workload that is placed on him by management, a difficult patient population, and yes even, and especially, difficult co-workers. I admire Dax because somehow he keeps his sense of humor and professionalism throughout, making people around him laugh, veterans, co-workers, whomever.
He also is our in-house barber for the veterans. Sometimes in the morning, we see veterans and they're clean-shaven and with new haircuts/hairstyles and they look great. One veteran stated, "Well the guy who cuts, he didn't think he did a great job, but I'm like, no he's wrong, he did a great job." Aside from being a great nurse since he's always helping his coworkers when they need it, he's also a great mentor/preceptor, training nurses who are starting to work on the unit. He also helps the caregivers; he cleans up the patients as well as their tables and surrounding areas. I just can't believe how he gets it all done.
Dax is a great leader, always guiding his team, and throwing out ideas and suggestions that will benefit the veteran. He is well respected among all. Words can't express what an amazing nurse he is; words don't do him justice. Dax has a strong work ethic and he puts the veteran first. He is committed to providing the highest quality of care to veterans. I admire and respect him and as a veteran; I wholeheartedly recommend him to receive the DAISY Award. He really is the best.
