Debbie Fogleman, BSN, RN is an expert in her field. She is a mentor for all nursery staff. Over the last year, Debbie has been instrumental in the development of our "Arms of Love" program. This program is designed to provide loving care for our substance abuse/exposed babies. Debbie recognized the tremendous need for a program like "Arms of Love". Volunteers at the hospital and in the community, sign up for shifts to simply rock the babies who are withdrawing from drugs upon birth. These volunteers provide a valuable service for the infants, their families, and our staff. It is impossible for the nursing staff to manage their daily duties in addition to the extra TLC substance abuse babies require. All of us greatly appreciate the volunteers because they make a huge difference. The infants do not cry when they are rocked, swaddled and held closely. The stress level in the nursery is significantly reduced with this exceptional program. Debbie is a true champion of holistic nursing.
