Deb started working as an RN at Magee on July 8, 1985. In fact, this was her first job as an RN and she liked it so much that she stayed for the next 31 years! For 31 years, she drove 90 miles to work and 90 miles back and if my calculations are close, she ran up over 1 million miles on her vehicles through good and bad weather! She was a staff nurse, then our nursing supervisor on the night shift and is currently the nurse manager on the 5th floor. Deb is certified as a rehabilitation nurse, has earned her BSN and will enroll in a master's program in the fall. Deb epitomizes compassion in all that she does, not only toward her patients but also toward others and those she leads. From a nurse leader perspective, that compassion is important because it creates trust and enables her to be an effective role model for many. No task is too big or too small for Deb and she never asks her staff to do anything she is not able or willing to do. She is always the one we can turn to for help whenever we need her! She is the calm before any storm and the calm after every storm. Thanks Deb for appreciating so many, respecting all and positively influencing others to give their best to those we serve, always.
