Deb is such an asset to the family maternity center team. As our bereavement nurse for families who have lost their babies, she is the Angel of Sentara, but her selfless and caring qualities go above and beyond. I lost my son in 2023 and was overcome with grief and devastation. Nobody is ever prepared for the loss of their child, but here I was, completely lost and had no idea what I was going to do. I have worked with Deb for the past several years working together to ensure that our moms who had lost their babies had everything they needed, but Deb always goes above and beyond. The comfort she gives our families is priceless, but here I was, facing the loss of my child as well. Deb reached out immediately, offering her heartfelt condolences and help if I needed it. I am not one to ask for help, but I quickly realized I needed help, and I reached out to Deb. She quickly helped me with funeral homes and how to access life insurance to help with the cost. My son and I have only lived here for seven years, and I wanted to bring him home to where he grew up. With her help, I was able to do that. Without her, none of this would have been possible, and I am so grateful for that. Deb continues to be there for me when I work, having known my loss.
