Dee noticed the patient was crying and stopped everything so she could spend time with the patient and talk.
Dee was able to be there for her patient when they needed someone the most. Dee came into the room with such confidence and professionalism. She reorganized the patient's chemo pole and very efficiently set up the next bags to start running. The patient was neutropenic which Dee was also so careful and used the utmost safety and cleanliness in everything she did. She took the time to explain in detail and through her actions what Neutropenia was and why we hang a sign on the outside of the door. Dee is a model nurse of procedure and efficiency! Dee noticed the patient was crying and stopped everything so she could spend time with the patient and talk. She provided the patient with a pep talk and assured the patient she was strong! The little things don't go unnoticed, the little foot massages when checking for edema, the straightening of bed sheets, pillow fluffing, antiseptic wiping of my tray after using it for procedures, but most of all the direct, warm smiles, with her eyes from behind her mask. Dee was a much-needed "light" for the patient at a difficult time!
