During what has been the most emotional and challenging week of our lives, Nurse Demetric has been a beacon of hope and comfort for our family. Our son was born healthy, but on his second day of life, during a routine car seat test, his oxygen levels began to dip. What followed was a terrifying series of events where he choked, turned blue, and needed significant intervention to recover. Over the next three days, he experienced five similar “events” that left us terrified and heartbroken. He was admitted to the NICU, where he lost 9.4% of his weight, struggled to stabilize, and required constant monitoring.

It was during this incredibly dark and uncertain time that we met Nurse Demetric. She cared for our son on three consecutive nights—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—and instantly became an essential part of our journey. Demetric went above and beyond, treating him as if he were her own child. She was deeply communicative, providing detailed updates that helped us feel informed and reassured about his care.

Demetric made it her personal mission to ensure our son passed his third car seat test, offering gentle encouragement and tirelessly advocating for his well-being. Beyond her exceptional clinical skills, she was a constant source of emotional support for us as new parents. She reminded us that while our son’s struggles were difficult, they were not insurmountable, and she gave us hope by affirming his progress and strength.

Her empathy, kindness, and dedication turned a terrifying experience into one where we felt cared for, supported, and hopeful. Thanks to Demetric and her incredible care, our son is now eating well, gaining weight, breathing beautifully, and thriving.
