Demi epitomized and demonstrated the CARE values and what is expected from the nursing profession. The strength she passed on to others after he passed away was extraordinary.
We consider Demi to be a professional individual who thrives on responsibility, challenge and team dynamics, with a proven record of dependability and honesty. We have all witnessed Demi grow from a newly qualified nurse to her present role, Deputy ward Leader on 23. An acute medical ward that deals with Cardiology and General Medical patients.
Demi demonstrates the ability to communicate at all levels to exacting standards. Patients and people generally respond in the way they are treated. Demi only has the deepest respect for all she cares for, treating them with compassion and dignity, always wanting and thriving for the best quality of care. She is very caring and demonstrates a genuine concern for all patients and individuals working within the trust. Demi is a good listener, hearing not only the words, but also what lies behind the words. Demi gets to know all the patients and their families and their personal wishes, desires, and ambitions.
This display of care was evident most recently when a patient who had spent over one hundred days in hospital, was readmitted. Multidisciplinary teams had worked hard to get this patient fit for a safe discharge home. To see him back in hospital was a devastating blow to all involved in his care.
Throughout this new episode of care, Demi demonstrated and epitomized everything that you would want from the NHS Nursing profession. Putting the patient at the centre of everything that was done. Going above and beyond to ensure that they were cared for physically, mentally, and emotionally. She did not judge or change the ethos despite the challenge and difficult situation the patient and others presented to her. The kindness, compassion, and leadership demonstrated were exceptional, setting the example to all others involved. Demi has a massive impact on the ward and communicates what the trust is hoping to achieve. She is very caring and demonstrates a genuine concern for all individuals working within the trust. Demi is conscious that people come to work with the attitude of being eager to do a good job and a genuine thank you or public recognition is always demonstrated which keeps morale high. She shows great attention to employee participation and empowerment that offers a personal touch.
