I was overwhelmed with how much support and encouragement I received from the nurses at Pearland Medical Center. This was my third pregnancy and with my previous two experiences, everything had gone smoothly. I thought with this being my third pregnancy that it too would be uneventful.
I live approximately 5 miles from Pearland Medical Center, which is the closest hospital to me. I did not know that your OB services were not available anymore and I was in active labor. I came to the ER with my husband and I could see that the staff was a bit nervous. I recall one of the nurses exclaiming, "Oh my, it's really happening!" House Supervisor, Ms. Denise calmed that nurse, as well as me, and delegated tasks to others.Everything happened quickly, I was immediately placed in a bed and supplies were gathered. I was told that I would be in charge and everything was my decision. I felt very comfortable at that point. Everyone acted quickly.
I would like to thank all the nurses and especially Ms. Denise. She was really helpful and even held my hand telling me not to scream since I did not have time to get anything for the pain. Ms. Denise rolled up her sleeves and kept cheering me on. I remember her telling me to 'push, rest, push, rest'. She helped me stay together. Ms. Denise stayed very calm and collected. My husband and I are so thankful. When the doctor told me that my son was 10 lbs 3 oz., I was shocked! Ms. Denise went to the extreme. She helped more than she was supposed to. She was awesome. If it were not for her, I don't think my baby or I would be here today.
