My dad has been admitted to Methodist twice and while we think incredibly highly of all the Methodist staff, Derrick is an exceptional nurse. In the two days that he cared for my dad, he has truly taken the time, consideration, care and concern to fully understand the complete medical picture and complex issues with/for my dad and the intricate family dynamics and he did so with ease, compassion, appropriate assertiveness and genuine sincerity. He kindly listened to each of us and made everyone including my very stoic father feel comfortable enough to open us to understand more deeply the factors at play. He helped us address medication complexities and education issues for the full family considering dad and discussed a plan forward after discharge for his stroke.
