We had a 24-year-old woman that had been admitted for hip dislocation after surgery in Charleston. She needed to go back to SC but with every movement, her hip would dislocate.She was visiting her parents in Charlotte and had a 4-month-old baby.The order was to discharge and follow up tomorrow with the surgeon.Des helped her get appropriate follow-up care as she knew she could not go home to her ADL's or care for her baby. Des worked all morning with CCM and calling orthopedic doctors in Charleston and Charlotte, and arranged transfer by medic to the hospital in SC. The patient's legs were wrapped to keep her hip in place, and Des knew she could not possibly go home and wait till an MD appointment the next day. The patient was very appreciative of excellent care, compassion, and concern shown by Des.
