Three days after being diagnosed with AML, my brother was admitted to SICU. Because of Destiny's care and compassion, the last day of my brother's life was the best that it could be under the circumstances. Destiny took exceptional care of him. Despite being nearly nine months pregnant, Destiny tirelessly ran in and out of the room all day long without complaint or even a sigh. She made numerous trips to the bedside to ensure his comfort and to allow him to be off of the bi-pap to have short conversations with us. She went out of her way to make sure that things were happening in a timely manner. There were many hard decisions that had to be made that day. We had questions, she had answers. Destiny did not just take care of my brother, she took the time to care for me and the rest of my family as well. Instead of my brother lying in an ICU bed surrounded by monitors and strangers, and us sitting in the waiting room watching the clock and wondering what was going on, Destiny gave us that last day together. For that, I am eternally grateful. Destiny truly exemplifies what a nurse should be!
