Diane understood how wonderful it would feel after laying in bed all day for someone to wash and rub their back. That is beautiful.
I have a great appreciation for all nurses, but there are some that truly excel. I have spent a lot of time in the hospital over the years and have been along the side of my husband as he battles cancer. I have learned to quickly identify the nurses who rise above, love what they do, and enjoy caring for their patients. I recently needed to have my port replaced and Diane Clark was my nurse. I quickly learned that she was not just doing a job to receive a paycheck. Her kindness made me feel at ease. We chatted as she prepared me for the surgery. As she washed my back with the disinfectant cloth, she shared how when she worked night shift on the floor, she always made certain that she washed the backs of all her patients before they went to bed. Following the Golden Rule, she understood how wonderful it would feel after laying in bed all day for someone to wash and rub their back. That is beautiful. She said it was doing the little things for her patients that really made the difference! Diane thought about what it would be like to be the patient and would be sensitive to their needs-big or small- and thought of what she could do to make the patient’s hospital stay more pleasant. The words I would use to describe Diane are: professional, knowledgeable, understanding, kind, caring, considerate, sensitive, compassionate, skillful, attentive, loving, and amazing! It was easy to see she loves her patients and loves caring for them with kindness and excellence! Diane, it was a wonderful blessing to have met you. Thank you for caring for me so beautifully! God bless you!
