Dina worked on developing the workflows for our clinical team to ensure we had a calm, caring, and communicative environment for our patients, staff, and physicians.
As a leader of multidisciplinary teams, Dina Ovando – Brown, RN, has led the work to support our year of nursing reimagination in a world affected by COVID-19. Her work has supported the lives of thousands of our members. Dina partnered with a multi-disciplinary workgroup to develop and launch Orange Counties COVID-19 Testing Site at the Anaheim Campus in late February/early March 2020.
In building the testing site from the ground up, Dina worked on developing the workflows for our clinical team to ensure we had a calm, caring, and communicative environment for our patients, staff, and physicians working in this new Am Care Space. All KP stakeholders and our patients had a high anxiety level with the unknown of COVID-19 and Dina and the team she supported worked through that space and created a model that met the needs of members for COVID-19 testing and also the needs of our team to ensure workflows that ensured high-level clinical care experiences and also a safe space for our Am Care Team.
Dina’s cluster in the Primary Care Services Service Line has partnered with all MOB’s to support our response to COVID-19 over the past year. Two examples of amazing teamwork are leveraging interdependence to help campuses that might be struggling with In-Basket Messages, and working to consolidate and ensure access for our Well Baby visits at MOB’s that were not impacted by building closures in the Spring/Summer of 2020.
In addition to those two examples, Dina led our Primary Care Response to MOB closures (10 in Orange County) and led our Primary Care Labor Pool Effort that helped to redeploy our staff to support the shift to virtual care, to support the MOB’s that stayed open, and support the new roles for our team (e.g. Temp Screeners, Curbside Pharmacy Ops, MOB Greeters, etc.) Dina’s work in this space helped our Orange County teamwork through an unprecedented time for our team and helped to ensure we deliver on the KP Promise to our patients, staff, and physicians.
