The Nurse I would like to nominate for the DAISY award is Dolores Defrancesco. She currently works as one of the Nurse Care Coordinators for Interventional Radiology. Dolores has dedicated her entire life to being a nurturer and caregiver. She truly enjoys what she does and it shows in her everyday interactions with patients and coworkers. For our patients, she truly will try to move the sun and moon in order to preclude any issues that may delay the patient's procedure. For her coworkers, she acts as the matriarch of our work family, she is always planning something for someone in our unit in order to commemorate a life event, a big accomplishment or reminding us to reach out to those who may be going through hard times. She keeps us together, reminding us that we not only work alongside one another, but we are a family. When she isn't running around saving the day, she takes time to educate and serve as a resource to the rest of the nursing staff. She empowers us all to be better, strive for better and to be the best nurses we can. Love just pours out of Dolores, she is a blessing to us, her coworkers, as well as her patients. It is an understatement to say she is an asset to our team, Dolores embodies everything nursing stands for and if there has ever been an EXTRAORDINARY nurse deserving of the DAISY award, it is most definitely Dolores Defrancesco.
