Donna is an excellent professional nurse. One of the best I have ever seen- a role model of what it means to be an excellent RN! These examples come to mind during my 6 day stay:
She informed me completely on every detail and change to info the MDs were discussing. She opened up the chart to show me and my husband the pictures of my colon. She was my advocate to the doctor for the meds I did and did not want to take. In a scary time of trying to decide if surgery was pending, Donna helped me weigh the pros and cons and brought out some excellent points to consider that even the doctors hadn’t discussed. She helped me verbalize, write down and prioritize the many questions I had for the surgeon. She was 100% “for me” and respectful of me as a person and gave me as much independent control as was possible. She spent a lot of time with me and my husband discussing things and just “relating.” She encouraged and helped me sit outside in the sunshine which I desperately craved. She even bought my dinner tray outside and encouraged me to eat outside. With the student nurses she was kind and patient explaining things calmly and thoroughly even though she could have done it herself in 1/100,000,000 the time it took them!
Donna is just the exemplification of what it means to be an excellent, professional, very competent, technical, knowledgeable, communicating and teaching role model of a most excellent nurse.
