This was a very emotional and trying time for my family. I tried not to leave the ICU the time my son was there. It was devastating to watch what he did to himself, and I was so darn tired plus I have an 81-year-old dad whom I care for too. I had to do a juggling act, to say the least. Donna made me feel that I could leave for a few hours to do whatever, especially rest. She said to me, "I'm a Mom too, I will treat K the same as you would." I love her for that. She took time to sit and talk with him (still sedated) washed him and shaved him for Father's Day. She put soothing music on in the room even though he wasn't alert. These little things all mean a lot to me and still make me cry. She has a big heart. I will never forget her, ever. I truly am grateful for her care. She even came up to K's room when he did wake to meet him. It was very moving, and I still cry over this! This has been a big part of my life that's not going to be forgotten. Thank you, Donna.
