Donna was my day shift nurse the day following an unexpected overnight stay when I was 35 weeks pregnant and from another town. She immediately came in, introduced herself, and made her plans for the day clear so that I was informed of what was going on. When it was time for my NST, she worked for 20 minutes to keep the baby on the monitor until she could get a good reading. When he wasn’t meeting the criteria, she contacted the OB to get permission to give me some juice after being NPO since admission the day before. This perked the baby up immediately so we could continue with the study. Once my husband woke up she immediately asked him if he need anything, which I so appreciated. As a first-time parent, he was extremely anxious about everything going on, and she made sure he was okay. She kept me up to date on when the OB would arrive and then the plan for discharge. She ordered me breakfast and made sure to check the food I ordered to ensure it went with the Dr. request for the correct diet. At discharge, she quickly got my IV out, and provided in-depth education about an appropriate diet until I got closer to delivery. Donna provided snacks and water for our long drive back home. I’ve never felt so welcomed and taken care of until my stay at Cox Branson. Everyone listened to my concerns and addressed them all. I will never forget my stay there.
