Dottie is an outstanding nurse. She exemplifies every Core Value of Ochsner. She is not only extremely skilled in her area of expertise, she is extraordinarily compassionate with every patient in her care. When a patient is in Dottie’s care, the care that is given to them is specific and individualized. Dottie is a patient advocate and always ensures her patients are receiving the highest quality of care from everyone on the interdisciplinary team. Dottie always has a huge smile on her face regardless of whether it is 0700 in the morning or 0000 on a Friday call night. She is funny, super inclusive, and friendly to everyone. When I first started working in the PACU, Dottie was out after having surgery. Everyone kept telling me “Wait until Dottie gets back… you’re going to love Dottie!” After meeting Dottie, I quickly realized why everyone loves her. Not only is she a gleam of sunshine, but she is also a team player. Dottie is truly encouraging to me as a nurse, and I know all of her patients feel comfortable, well taken care of, and safe.
