He took the time to answer my questions and truly listen to our concerns. When she was scared about getting another IV, he stayed and held her hand, distracting her from what was happening.
Dylan was my mom's nurse and he was a Godsent. The night before had been very rough for Mom and me. She struggled with a high heart rate, limited mobility, and some sundowning. Dylan walked in the next day and was a ray of sunshine. He reassured both of us about why her heart rate had been high and was willing to let her sit up on a recliner for some freedom from the bed. He took the time to answer my questions and truly listen to our concerns. When she was scared about getting another IV, he stayed and held her hand, distracting her from what was happening. One of the possible challenges to her discharge was getting an appointment with our primary doctor, who was on vacation. I was lost about what to do, so he got on my cell phone and spoke with the nurse to work out a plan where she would be seen the next day by another provider, allowing her to be discharged from the hospital. Dylan is kind, compassionate, and caring. HE WORKS TO FIND SOLUTIONS AND REASSURE PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. HE IS A CREDIT TO THE NURSING PROFESSION. Dylan is absolutely EXTRAORDINARY. Thank you for assigning him to work with my precious mom.

An abundance of kindness. Spent all the time we needed to go over care options for family. They explained in detail to various family members. Got hugs and warmth. They didn’t change the outcome, but they took P’s family on a much more peaceful journey.

My autistic son, M, was here again. He is profoundly autistic and mentally challenged. He is 39 but has the mind of a 3-year-old. While in a hospital setting, he requires restraints. Otherwise, he will elope and mess with all the medical equipment. He could be a danger to himself and the staff. Both Dylan and another nurse were excellent, the way they cared for and interacted with M was truly outstanding. They kept him safe and occupied his stay by singing, playing videos, and even dancing with him. They are excellent people, and this hospital is blessed to have them.
Note: This is Dylan's 2nd DAISY Award!
